Why a Ribfest and Who Benefits?

Rotarians can make great things happen with your support, … we proved it!

Dear Friends:

We have launched the Call for Sponsorship, and we are diligently pursuing partnerships to support this initiative that will strengthen our corporate and volunteer profiles in both Pickering and Ajax while providing all of us with a lucrative business venture that will net great returns many times over to sustain the charitable needs within of our own communities today, and in the future years to come. Last year we attracted a total of 52,000 visitors!

A Ribfest and Community Festival is a huge undertaking to plan, manage, and execute, but the Rotary Clubs and their volunteer resources are up for the challenge.  The forecasted financial returns on a venture like this outweigh any other that the two Clubs have done to date as separate initiatives.  And, with your financial assistance once again a dream will become a reality.  This smart venture engages the community as a whole while raising awareness of the role of the Rotary Clubs and how they help the less fortunate, and/or sustain the services that we all have come to rely on.

Some of our benefactors in the past:

¨    Canadian Landmine Foundation

¨    Polio Plus (projects to eradicate polio)

¨    Pickering Rotary Music Festival (1987+)

¨    Pickering Museum Village Steam & Gas Barn Addition

¨    Durham West Art Centre

¨    Frenchman’s Bay West Rotary Park

¨    Youth Exchange Program

¨   Dunbarton High School Environ. Studies

¨   Ajax/Pickering Rouge Valley Hospital

¨   Ajax/Pickering United Way

¨   Herizon House

¨   Big Brothers and Sisters of Ajax/Pickering

¨   High School Bursaries

¨   5th Ajax Boy Scouts

¨    Pickering #2525 Army Cadets

¨    Ajax Public Library

¨    Junior Achievement, and so much more.

We support numerous grass root projects and families in need, and we participate in other endeavours that are not high profile or well known, but ones that truly make a difference and provide independence and confidence building for our adults of tomorrow (e.g., assistive devices for handicapped children).  At the event, we will once again promote a much needed pre-summer Food Bank Drive initiative for St. Paul’s on-the-Hill, Pickering.

We welcome you to join us in a 2009 success story!
